YouTube Videos of Actual Events At the links provided here, you will find actual videos of events recorded by the observer indicated. These videos have been compressed from the original files and so cannot be used for analysis purposes. However, they do give an indication of what you might see while recording your own events. The videos listed here show a wide variety of observations. Brad Timerson taped a "grazing" occultation durng the Phocaea event as the star reappeared in a valley on the asteroid for a short time. Note also that the asteroid was still visible during the occultation. The Xanthe videos by Nugent and Loftus show that the star being occulted is rather large... the disappearance and reappearance take longer than expected. The Bamberga event shows what happens when the asteroid is too dim to be seen - the whole area disappears! If you videotape an asteroid occultation, you are encouraged to compress the video into one of the MPEG formats and to upload that video to YouTube. If you don't have a YouTube account, you can create one. Or, you may send your video to Brad Timerson and he will post it to YouTube. Let him know if you want to receive credit for the video. All videos should be less than 5 Mb in size. Brad Timerson: btimerson@rochester.rr.com
