IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (329) Svea / TYC 5544-00663-1 event on 2012 Dec 19, 10:36 UT Visible from S USA, Mexico Summary ------- On 2012 Dec 19 UT, the 70 km diameter asteroid (329) Svea will occult a 10.7 mag star in the constellation Virgo for observers along a path across S USA, Mexico. In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 0.7 mag to 10.7 mag (the combined magnitude of the asteroid and the other component of the double star) for at most 2.3 seconds. This update is based on UNSO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Alice Monet, historical astrometry from the MPC files (via AstDys), and the following catalogs for the star position: UCAC.
