IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (704) Interamnia / UCAC2 45122176 event on 2012 Nov 12, 03:04 UT Visible from Russia, Europe, Canada, E USA, Mexico Summary ------- On 2012 Nov 12 UT, the 357 km diameter asteroid (704) Interamnia will occult a 11.9 mag star in the constellation Perseus for observers along a path across Russia, Europe, Canada, E USA, Mexico. In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 0.2 mag to 9.9 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 30.5 seconds. This update is based on UNSO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Alice Monet, TMO astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Bill Owen, historical astrometry from the MPC files (via AstDys), and the following catalogs for the star position: UCAC.
