IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (478) Tergeste / TYC 1333-00968-1 event on 2012 Sep 13, 22:24 UT Visible from China, India, Arabia Summary ------- On 2012 Sep 13 UT, the 86 km diameter asteroid (478) Tergeste will occult a 11.2 mag star in the constellation Gemini for observers along a path across China, India, Arabia. In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 2.4 mag to 13.5 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 3.3 seconds. This update is based on UNSO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Hugh Harris, historical astrometry from the MPC files (via AstDys), and the following catalogs for the star position: UCAC.
