IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (1574) Meyer / HIP 5213 event on 2012 Sep 02, 01:31 UT Visible from NE Canada Summary ------- On 2012 Sep 02 UT, the 61 km diameter asteroid (1574) Meyer will occult a 8.1 mag star in the constellation Pisces for observers along a path across NE Canada. In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 7.6 mag to 15.7 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 8.9 seconds. This update is based on UNSO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Hugh Harris, historical astrometry from the MPC files (via AstDys), and the following catalogs for the star position: .
