IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (483) Seppina / 2UCAC 31602542 event on 2012 Aug 17, 03:57 UT Visible from E Canada, E USA, Mexico Summary ------- On 2012 Aug 17 UT, the 91 km diameter asteroid (483) Seppina will occult a 13.2 mag star in the constellation Aquarius for observers along a path across E Canada, E USA, Mexico. In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 0.7 mag to 13.1 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 6.6 seconds. This update is based on UNSO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Hugh Harris, TMO astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Bill Owen, historical astrometry from the MPC files (via AstDys), and the following catalogs for the star position: UCAC.
