IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (1048) Feodosia / TYC 4677-00696-1 event on 2009 Nov 18, 04:23 UT Visible from USA, SW Canada Summary ------- On 2009 Nov 18 UT, the 60 km diameter asteroid (1048) Feodosia will occult a 10.1 mag star in the constellation Cetus for observers along a path across USA, SW Canada. In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 4.7 mag to 14.8 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 6.5 seconds. This update is based on UNSO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Alice Monet, TMO astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Bill Owen, historical astrometry from the MPC files (via AstDys), and the following catalogs for the star position: UCAC.
