IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (3193) Elliot / TYC 6376-01393-1 event on 2008 Mar 27, 02:27 UT Visible from Africa Summary ------- On 2008 Mar 27 UT, the 25 km diameter asteroid (3193) Elliot will occult a 9.5 mag star in the constellation Aquarius for observers along a path across Africa. In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 9.2 mag to 18.7 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 0.6 seconds. This update is based on UNSO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Alice Monet, historical astrometry from the MPC files (via AstDys), and the following catalogs for the star position: UCAC.
