IOTA/IOTA-ES occultation update for (638) Moira / 2UCAC 22358394 event on 2007 Aug 01, 23:46 UT Visible from SW Asia, Africa, NE Brazil Summary ------- On 2007 Aug 01 UT, the 65 km diameter asteroid (638) Moira will occult a 11.9 mag star in the constellation Capricornus for observers along a path across SW Asia, Africa, NE Brazil. In the case of an occultation, the combined light of the asteroid and the star will drop by 1.4 mag to 13.0 mag (the magnitude of the asteroid) for at most 6.1 seconds. This update is based on UNSO/Flagstaff astrometry for the asteroid kindly provided by Alice Monet, historical astrometry from the MPC files (via AstDys), and the following catalogs for the star position: UCAC.
